Definition:

  • The time required to move to a target is a function of ratio between distance to the target and its size.
  • Objects that are larger and closer are easier and faster to point and click/touch.
  • Objects that are smaller and far are difficult to point and click.

Examples:

E-commerce:
  • Reduces distance to the target.
  • Takes order from anywhere and deliver to the address.
  • Online bookings and shopping reduce distance to travel.

Headphones:
  • Headphones usage reduces distance to the target.
  • Actions like track playing and changing, volume up and down, call lifting etc are easy and fast. 

Keyboard Design:
Keyboard design follows fits law.
